Trekking Darjeeling, Hiking, Singalila national park, and Trekking
Tonglu (3036 mt) is the one of the higher peaks of the Singalila Ridge and a small settlement inside the Singalila National Park in the Darjeeling subdivision, Darjeeling district in the state of West Bengal in India near the India – Nepal border. It is a roadside halt along the trekking route from Manebhanjan to Sandakphu. Tonglu is the perfect retreat to unwind and/or explore the mountains.A trek through a forest in the eastern Himalayas, a panoramic view of snow-covered peaks such as the Kanchenjunga, Pandim and the Makalu, a picturesque trekkers’ hut and solitude – Tonglupromises much and delivers for the most part. The village is named after one of the higher peaks on the Singalila Ridge. It is located inside the Singalila National Park in the Darjeeling subdivision of the district, near the India-Nepal border.
Tonglu day hike is mostly famous for spotting of Red Pandas and varieties of Rhododendron and Magnolias seen during hike. As it is a silent trek with least amount of trekkers trekking on the path, it is a good place for bird watching as well. It is also a place where you find “medicinal plants of the hills”.
