Gorubathan in kalimpong district also known as sombare among locales is small town about 90 km from Kalimpong town (via Lava) and about 59 km from Siliguri. Situated on the east bank of the Neora and Chel River, both the rivers valley are called as picnic spot. Gorubathan town is renowned for its natural beauty and there are various beautiful sites in and around the place that travellers can actually visit. The landscape area of the town is totally unique comparing to others as the area is half plain and half hill which were quite interesting to see. The mountainous valley enclosing Gorubathan houses the ruins of ancient Dalim fort. The unique landscape, where the plain merges with daunting hill, of Gorubathan has mesmerized and captivated the heart of many travelers.

You can visit Fagu Khola , Runjung khola, chel khola meet with the river Chel and on the other side of the river, there is the Pathjhora Tea Garden. You can also visit the Dalim fort. It is situated on the top of the hills just above the Gorubathan village. You can spot the serene beauty of nature and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere from here. Jhandi dara is also a popular destination.

Gorubathanis about 50 km from Siliguri and about 90 km from Kalimpong. From Siliguri, you can access 31 national highway till Damdim. From Damdim a road to the north goes to Lava through Gorubathan.
By Train: New Jalpaiguri Junction (NJP) and Siliguri Junction are the two major railway stations nearby. Board a flight to any of these railway stations and then get a cab.
By Air: Bagdogra is the maiden airport near Gorubathan. Several flights are available to this particular airport from most of the major airports of India. You have to board a flight to this airport and then again get the help of a hired car.
By Road: Reaching Gorubathan by road is not that hard. The village is easily accessible from Siliguri, Malbazar, and any other nearby cities.
